Google has recently removed all ‘search query data’ which earlier used to provide loads of information to businessmen aspiring to develop their market based on most searched words. By incorporating the information from Google into their website or blog, they ensured that visitors found their business or product through these keywords. But now, all the searched words are marked as “not provided”, hence the system has turned complicated. It is no longer easy to associate a product with typically searched words on the web so easily. But discovering effective keywords is important for the success of business especially while marketing it online –
- Address to the customer: It is always useful to understand the customer’s point of view; how visitors should behave and search while viewing a website! Study market trends to understand the demand. Likewise, you can build your blogs with keywords which will help customers find your product easily. For e.g., you find out from the market that trending word is ‘liquid detergent’. If your product is a washing machine or alike, incorporate ‘liquid detergent as a key term in your website blogs to draw traffic, which will convert visitors to buyers.
- Focus on Yahoo and Bing searches- When Google doesn’t help, you can discover keywords by reading the statistics of Yahoo and Bing. Though it will limit the understanding of the trend but will give some information about the descriptive keywords searched by people, i.e. the 5-6 words phrases which customers type in demand of specific service.
- Be the buyer yourself- Place yourself in customer’s shoes to understand what they can search. If you would have been a buyer, what kind of services would have most attracted you! The answer to this will solve your query on keywords.
- Search yourself- If you have a few keywords in mind, type it on Google, it will show the related searches at the bottom of the page; the door to Google suggestions is unlocked.
- Keep a search bar on your website or blog page. Whoever comes as a visitor, will be tempted to type something which he or she is looking for in the search bar. From the data, you can discover the words which will be appropriate for your business.
- Align keywords to the Niche- Your keywords should be related to the Niche you are working on. The specific subject or field, to which your product belongs have to inspire the keywords you include in your website content. Do some research on the niche before allotting keywords.
- Visit online forums- Industry related forums for business are very popular among customers. People regularly visit these forums, contribute review, comments, and requirements in them. They are the best places to understand the market and find creative keywords.
- Study the social media- Trending words on social media like Facebook and Twitter are easy to find; they can determine which are the most searched words related to your business.
- Use not one but many tools- Use different Keyword tools to research on this. Google AdWord Keyword Planner tool, Microsoft Bing Ads Intelligence, Google Trends, WordTracker’s Free Basic Keyword Demand, and many other Keyword Explorers are available in the market. Make an in-depth study of the trend with a specific objective.
- Study the industry book-titles closely- Sometimes the best technical terms can be obtained from the books written on the specific industry. For e.g., if you want to market a restaurant through your website, you can get the best keywords or technical terms from the book titles written on food and hotel industry.
